“Hooked on Fishing – Not on Drugs” is a unique, nationally recognized program created by the Future Fisherman Foundation. In 2012, former Governor Christie signed legislation establishing the statewide implementation of the HOFNOD program. The legislation provided initial funding through an appropriation of $200,000 from the state’s Drug Enforcement and Demand Reduction Fund.
HOFNOD uses angling skill development as a gateway to teach youth about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and how to deal with the challenges facing them in their young lives. The HOFNOD network includes trained aquatic education professionals in over 30 states with literally thousands of programs nationwide.
The NJDEP Fish & Wildlife partners with schools, community- and faith-based youth organizations willing to provide on-going and sustained engagement in HOFNOD activities throughout the year.
Check out the NJDFW Website for More Info!
And don't forget the next Hooked on Fishing, Not On Drugs Youth Fishing Challenge! Dates and Registration Info Available in January 2023!
